Libby mobile app: Available on Android and iOS devices, this is the newer app from OverDrive. We offer the following options for enjoying your library’s digital collection: With the OverDrive service, your library and users have access to enjoy ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and other streaming media. OverDrive is the name of the company that provides your library with a digital reading platform.
Why is OverDrive discontinuing the OverDrive app?. While we no longer support new downloads of this software, users who already have it installed can continue to use it by downloading audiobooks from your library’s. Note: The legacy OverDrive for Windows and OverDrive for Mac desktop software that allows users to download audiobooks and transfer them to dedicated MP3 players will not be sunset on May 1. At that time, users who try to access your library’s collection in the OverDrive app will need to upgrade to Libby. We plan to fully discontinue the legacy OverDrive app on May 1, 2023. On July 27, 2022, we started displaying in-app messaging to OverDrive app users informing them about the upcoming sunset of the legacy app with a prompt to upgrade to Libby. We removed the OverDrive app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Microsoft Store on February 23, 2022. We are sunsetting the legacy OverDrive app for iOS, Android, and Windows 8/10 to make Libby the primary way for users to enjoy your digital library.
